How to Add Pictures of YOUR Clothes to Your Closet
This video shows the previous version of the app. The steps below are current.
Once your closet has photos of your own clothes, you can see any outfit with your pieces and build flat lays that look like your real wardrobe.
Before You Start
- Declutter first so you don’t photograph clothes you won’t wear. The Getting Started checklist on the Home page has a closet cleanout guide.
- Add your pieces to your closet from the Blueprint with I Own These. See How To Check Off the Pieces You Own.
- Use a computer if you can. It’s faster to work with two windows side by side.
The Easiest Way to Get Your Photos
- Start with pieces you bought online. Screenshot the product photo from the store’s website. See How to Add Pictures Using Screenshots.
- For everything else, photograph your clothes one category at a time. See How to Capture Quality Photos of Your Clothes.
- If you took photos on your phone but are uploading on a computer, move them over first (Google Photos on Android, or the Photos app on a Mac).
Tip: after you buy something online, screenshot it right away so it’s ready to add.
Adding a Photo to a Piece
- Go to My Closet.
- Tap Edit Info on the piece (or tap the three dots and tap Edit).
- Tap Upload and choose your photo.
- Tap Remove Background. The app removes the background and crops the photo to the edges of your piece.
- Add a Nickname, and the Store, Brand, and Product Link if you have them.
- Tap Save Changes.
The background removal makes the photo transparent so it layers nicely in outfit flat lays, and crops it so it’s sized correctly.
If it cuts off too much:
- Revert to Original undoes the background removal.
- Revert to Example Image goes back to the Frump Fighters example photo.
If one of the Frump Fighters example photos looks close to your piece, you can keep it. Pieces without your own photo show the example in outfits.
Adding Another Version of a Piece
Own more than one? Tap Add another on the piece in the Blueprint, or tap the three dots on the piece in your closet and tap Duplicate. Adding more than the recommended amount is a Premium feature.
