I’m not a fashionista. I don’t know how to wear all the latest trends.

But when I look back at the photos from my last pregnancy, I’m happy with what I see.

Thanks to this blog, I’ve pushed myself to look stylish and try new trends. But I never compromised on comfort either.

As a mom, I feel quite accomplished to prove it’s possible to get dressed with ease each morning, look cute, and feel comfortable—all while being pregnant!

My maternity wardrobe from this last spring and summer helped me achieve just that.

This post is a summary of all my outfits from those nine months!

9 Months of Outfits

Wow, I took a lot of outfit photos from January to September last year. But I’m glad I did. It “journaled” the success of my maternity capsule wardrobe and got me excited to reorganize my closet for a winter maternity capsule!

I’m not necessarily a believer in capsule wardrobes that require you throw all the rest of your clothes away.

I use them as a way to organize what I do have, and set apart a selection of clothes that go exceptionally well together.

The goal: making it easier to choose outfits in the morning.

While I’m using a capsule for a certain season (like maternity or fall), I keep the rest of my clothes in a separate part of my closet or separate drawers and put some in storage. That way when the next season comes around, I can shop what I already own instead of starting over.

To be clear: on this blog a capsule simply means a subdivision of your larger wardrobe. It is not about having a tiny amount of clothes. Because that gets boring.

To appreciate the rest of this post, I recommend visiting my original maternity capsule wardrobe post to see what was in my capsule!

My thoughts on using a maternity capsule (in retrospect)

I loved that having a well-planned wardrobe insured that I had everything I needed for my entire pregnancy.

I knew the clothes went together, and for items that I needed to buy, I had a clear vision for what they needed to be (color and style-wise).

Because I kept all my maternity clothes in one part of the closet and in their own dedicated drawers in my dresser, getting dressed in the morning was easy.

I was never frustrated by the lack of anything to wear or by feeling like nothing went together. This was because my capsule was planned with mixing and matching in mind.

One way I “broke the rules” of capsule wardrobes was giving myself the flexibility to add in completer pieces and accessories that I hadn’t officially included in the original capsule. This kept things fresh while having my foundation of outfits already set.

I also added a couple of tops in the last month or two of pregnancy when my belly grew too big to fit in much of anything else!

Below is a gallery of my Instagram outfit shots.  I counted up to 68 with my hashtag #mymatcapsule, and didn’t even exhaust all the outfit options.

Notice the shift from selfies to mirror shots as my belly grew 😀

Outfits from My Spring/Summer Pregnancy Capsule Wardrobe

A normal mom figured out how to enjoy style throughout her pregnancy. Pretty cool, huh? I can’t believe that’s me!

The best part is, at the end of those picture-snapping, blog-writing months I held a bundle of joy in my arms!
