Today a Frump Fighter is sharing her styling expertise with us in a post about how to use accessories to dress three kinds of outfits up or down!

She will share how she uses Stella & Dot accessories (including jewelry, a scarf, and clutch) to turn three different mom-friendly outfits into special occasion looks.

My favorite line from her rich post…

Accessories are a great way to creatively stretch your capsule wardrobe.  It is the connective tissue of any capsule wardrobe.

Whether or not you use a capsule wardrobe, you’ll love her pretty style tips!

How to use accessories to dress mom outfits up or casual them down! 3 types of outfits (t-shirt and jeans, little black or striped dress, and work wear) and what accessories to use. Love this blog! So helpful for this style challenged mom!! :)

Accessorizing is my passion, and my superpower.

I simply love to add something “extra” to my everyday outfits.  It helps me feel complete, confident, and a little more “put together” even on days when I’m a hot mess!

I love seeing how other women accessorize and often LOVE to compliment them on their great shoes, bag, scarf, or jewelry. I guess you can say I’m slightly accessory obsessed, which is why I love being a stylist for Stella & Dot!

Accessories are a great way to creatively stretch your capsule wardrobe.  It is the connective tissue of any capsule wardrobe.

They can take a casual, second hand tee and jeans to the next style level.

They can dress up (or down) a little black dress; making it multi-functional.

They can take your work day outfit into an evening function, simply by changing them up a bit.

Most importantly, they can transform the way you FEEL in your outfit. Stella & Dot has added so much to my personal wardrobe and my love of accessories; and this fall they’ve truly brought their A game to the world of fashion.  From jewelry, bags, scarves, and now tops, we’ve got you covered.  Literally.

Ideas for Accessorizing: Tee and Jeans

Arming your accessory wardrobe with some versatile pieces is key for extending wear and our the content of our wallets!

Try a versatile earring like our Riva Tassels, which come apart to give you more than one look. You truly get 2 pairs of earrings in one pair: a stud for daytime around the babies, and the added fringe tassel for date night.

Adding a pop of color to a basic tee and jeans is a fun way to frame your face!  Our Kari necklace is another multipurpose powerhouse, giving you 2 necklace lengths in one.  Wear together, alone, or layer it up with another necklace! #morebangforyourbuck

Ideas for Accessorizing: The Little Black Dress… or Little Striped Dress

Dressing up or down a little black dress is easy with the right accessories.  For the purposes of the Full Year Wardrobe (FYW), I’m using a striped day dress, instead.

Simply by switching your pendant necklace for a statement (necklace or earrings- never both at the same time!); your minimalist bracelet to a statement one (or adding more for an arm party!); and your every day tote for a clutch- you can truly change the look and the way you feel in that LSDD (little striped day dress).

I swapped the Rebel Pendant, Pave Open Chandelier Earrings, and tote (link to similar); for our Amelia Sparkle necklace, Florian Bracelet, and City Slim Clutch.  Voilà!  Daytime sweet to nighttime chíc!

Ideas for Accessorizing: Work Wear

That same accessory switcheroo concept goes for prolonging your work wear from daytime to evening.

Scarves are a great staple for fall, and can be functional as well as fashionable.  Looped around your neck, they add a pretty pop to that button down or blazer.

Losing the blazer and turning your neck gear into a shoulder wrap is an easy trick to going from work to date night or dinner meeting.

I tricked out our Reversible Infinity Scarf in Leopard.  Rawr.

My favorite part of being a stylist is allowing women to feel so good about their look, and that they deserve to treat themselves.

I love that over half our collection is under $50, starting at just $19; and has super quick shipping right to your door.

Accessorizing is a way to express yourself– there is no right or wrong at the end of the day.  Honestly, if you want to wear those statement earrings with a statement necklace, and a tote bag out to dinner with your honey; it’s totally ok if YOU FEEL GOOD DOING IT.  You’ll probably even get a compliment from me!  Happy fall!
