Affordable women’s jeans. What feelings does this conjure up for you? Scoffing? Fear? Disbelief?
For most of us (especially because we are busy moms!), jeans are the backbone of our wardrobe.
They are the ultimate pant that dresses up or down based on wash, color and what you pair with them. Jeans have the ability to make or break the versatility of your closet and what you wear.
Basically, jeans are the can’t-live-without, bomb-dot-com, absolutely-must-have pants for anyone’s wardrobe.
The real kicker here is that finding the perfect pair of jeans is HARD. We all have a preference of how much or how little stretch they should have, how high- or low-waisted they should be and how dark or light the wash is. That’s without even talking about the cut. Skinny? Bootcut? Wide leg?
Here at Frump Fighters we want to make it easier for moms to find the clothes you need at an affordable price. I don’t know about you, but I have found jeans to have a huge price range, from cheap $20 jeans at Walmart to high-end $200 jeans at a boutique.
We’ve scoured the earth (ok, country) and have pulled together the ultimate list of the BEST, most AFFORDABLE women’s jeans in current styles and cuts.
The Best Style of Jeans for Your Body Type
To start we’d like to briefly talk about how jeans should fit you and your unique body type.
The best jeans for moms are typically mid to high rise to give us that tummy control we love, but it’s nice to know exactly what is most flattering on our body shape.
Don’t know your body shape yet? Use Frump Fighters’® Body Shape Cheatsheet!
Here’s a super simple breakdown to give you the gist:
Best Jeans for a Straight Body Shape
- Recommended Silhouettes: Skinny, to create more shape and curves
- Recommended Rise: Mid to low rise so you don’t get lost in them
Best Jeans for a Pear Body Shape
- Recommended Silhouette: Trouser Jeans create a straight line, elongating the legs. If you prefer a skinny cut try a straight leg jean.
- Recommended Rise: High Rise
Best Jeans for an Apple Body Shape
- Recommended Silhouette: Bootcut or skinny
Recommended Rise: Mid rise or high rise, to roughly hit at your belly button
Best Jeans for a Carrot Body Shape
- Recommended Silhouettes: Bootcut or Straight, you want to add width to your bottom half so you look proportional.
- Recommended Rise: Mid to High Rise, to emphasize your waist to create the look of wider hips.
Best Jeans for a Curvy/Hourglass Body Shape
- Recommended Silhouettes: Bootcut or Flare to balance hips
- Recommended Rise: Mid to High Rise
Bonus Tip: If you are tall you will find that a wider silhouette or cut will keep you from looking even taller. If your body shape can pull of a wide leg or flare, do it! If you are short or petite, the skinnier the cut the taller it will make you appear. I am 5’4″ and I aim for skinny jeans that stop right at my ankle (narrowest point) because they elongate my legs which helps me appear taller!

The one negative we have experienced and heard about is that ON jeans tend to stretch out easily. The more spandex in jeans the more they will do this. This also means they are more forgiving which is probably why so many people also love them!
If the spandex content is higher, try sizing down! If you like a more structured jean keep your eye on the spandex content and shoot for something under 5%. My absolute favorite pair of jeans (I seriously call them magical jeans) are ON High Rise Rockstars that have 2% spandex.

Denim Care: How to Wash Your Jeans
Caring for Your Jeans Tip #1:
Try to avoid washing your jeans too often.
Spot cleaning in between washes can help with this. Levi Strauss actually suggests going at least 10 wears between a full wash!
Caring for Your Jeans Tip #2:
When you do wash your jeans, flip them inside out to protect the color and any distressing or other accents.
A good pair of jeans may look well worn, but you want that to come from actually wearing them, not an over-the-top spin cycle. Don’t forget to roll down any cuffs you’ve added so dirt doesn’t get stuck in there!
Caring for Your Jeans Tip #3:
Wash on cold water and don’t use too much detergent.
Cold water helps preserve color and most detergents are formulated for that.
Caring for Your Jeans Tip #4:
If you have the space and time, air dry.
We want to wash them on cold, so then sticking them in a hot dryer is the opposite of what you want! They may seem a little stiff, but once you put them on they will start to soften.
If need be, once they are completely air dried you can stick them in the dryer on a low or no heat setting for a few minutes to soften before you wear them.
