After having my son, I pretty much stopped taking care of myself.  He would not sleep through the night nor was he good napper, so frankly I was too tired to even attempt to try to put myself together.  My husband works from home and after a while I realized that I needed to do a better job at still trying to stay attractive for him.

The problem was that I didn’t have any idea where to start.

Maybe that’s you…where you look at yourself in the mirror and you just feel stuck in a rut.  The problem is that even when you muster up some energy to “try” to fight the mama frump, you really have no idea what to do or where to start.

You may think like I did that running to random stores to buying random accessories will somehow make your outfits better.  But then frustration sets in because those accessories don’t ever get worn, and you just spent way too much money on things you don’t even care about. Instead of trying to please your husband you end up frustrating him and yourself!  Sound like you?

It doesn’t have to be this way.  You CAN fight the frump and accessorize comfortably and with confidence!

Three Life-Changing Accessories

I love being part of something that is bigger than myself.  I found Trades of Hope last March and joined as a Compassionate Entrepreneur immediately when I learned that their world-changing accessories and home décor products do double-duty at helping women in the USA look great while also helping mamas around the world have sustainable jobs to empower them out of poverty.

Women are going to buy beautiful things anyway, so their premise is, why not also help other mamas who are less fortunate in the process by giving them a dignified job as a hand up instead of a charitable hand out?!

I have LOVED working this business and the personal growth I have gained, especially learning how to look more put together daily with Frumpy Fighters!

So, let’s talk about three ways YOU can do double-duty accessorizing your basic mama outfit comfortably AND helping mamas around the world stop the cycle of poverty at the same time!

1.    Tote “All-Yo’-Mama-Things” Around Town in Style

I love all things jute! Jute is made of dried plant fibers which adds a beautiful natural element to rugs, home décor and of course handbags.  The Dasah Tote from Trades of Hope is a perfect, on-trend, comfortable bag for all your mama needs.

Whether you need to return that stack of library books that are nearly overdue, pack toys and snacks for a playdate or head out to the beach for some off-season fun in the sun, the roomy and durable Dasah Tote gets any mama job done comfortably and in style!

Having multiple open interior pockets for quick retrieval of keys and smart phone is a must and this bag delivers!  A spacious zip pocket discreetly contains all the mama things that we need but don’t want to lose. The neutral colors and black chevron stripes make this bag a no-brainer when reaching for something guaranteed to add style to whichever outfit you’re wearing.

And again, because it’s made of jute, it is super durable and will withstand lots of mama love.

But do you know what the best part is?   Every time someone purchases a Dasah Tote from Trades of Hope, they are using their dollars to “vote” for the kind of world they want to live in…  one that brings job training, leadership training and empowerment to women in Bangladesh.  Get one here.

2.  Learn a New Way to Wear a Scarf This Season

A simple accessory like a scarf can be just the exclamation point to your simple mama outfit that you’ve been looking for.  If you have a closet full of scarves but you aren’t really sure how to wear them, a quick visit to YouTube will get you headed in the right direction!

You may have always just worn them the same way for years, but branch out this fall from a simple old loop and find a new look that you love and feel great in!  Or if you don’t have any scarves or want something fresh and fun, go grab a scarf like the Destination Wrap (you can find it here).

Trying something new may feel complicated and awkward at first, but just keep playing around with new looks until you find a favorite…and then rock it!

Not only can this oversized white, lilac and gray woven Destination Wrap be be worn as a scarf, it can also be used as a shawl for cooler weather or used as a sarong in the summer!  Some mamas even like to wrap it up as a baby carrier as well.

Every purchase of this handmade wrap empowers another mama in India because she is able to earn a fair wage and send her children to school.  You have the opportunity to end poverty and create an impact for generations to come. And that’s with a simple scarf that you would purchase from somewhere else anyway.  Consider shopping Trades of Hope!

3.  Add a Simple Statement Bracelet

If you are like me and never considered yourself to be a “jewelry person” before, I challenge you to try one bracelet this fall and see how quickly your look and confidence boosts.

If there’s anything I’ve learned since becoming a mom, it’s that women are strong.  So why not go with that and add a Warrior Cuff from Trades of Hope for the Wonder Woman in you.

The Warrior Cuff will become your go-to piece and is conveniently available in both silver and gold. This hammered stacked cuff opens in the back and is flexible to fit most any wrist. You can find it here.
