Stumped on what to wear at home all day? Want some cute and comfy outfit ideas for wearing around the house?
Getting dressed every day even just to be around the house is powerful.
Unless you’re feeling sick, staying in your pajamas all day will literally tank your mood and make you feel more irritable with the kids. Getting dressed is SO good for your mental health!
In the uncertain times of the last year or two, it has often felt easier for us to put on an old t-shirt and anything with an elastic waistband and call it good.
And while I’m all for minimal effort outfits, I want to help you feel even better in your own skin by using that minimal effort, but creating an at home style that helps you feel put together.
So in this post I’m giving you a free month from my What-to-Wear Outfit Calendar for Moms so that you can harness the power of getting dressed!
It will make a bigger difference than you might imagine!

The Best Comfortable Clothes for at Home Wear
Naturally when it comes to the clothing you wear for the ultimate at home look, you’ll choose pieces made from stretch fabrics for maximum comfort.
I am ALL about that, just remember that without much effort, you can “upgrade” your stretchy materials and look completely put together and cute.
Whether you are all about stylish athleisure for a grocery store run or hope to keep your office dress code going strong as you attend a zoom meeting you can have cute & comfortable outfits.
Tops
Look for tops in soft fabrics that wear well and don’t require special effort (like taking it to the dry cleaners!).
If you love a good pair of leggings or skinny jeans, be on the lookout for some oversize t-shirts or loose tees. There are so many ways you can style oversize or baggy tops that we have a whole blog post dedicated to it!
Take into account what your average daily temps are like and make sure to have some good basic shirts in short sleeve and/or long sleeve.
Bottoms
Bottoms are really where we need ultimate comfort. Drawstring waists or elastic bands are great, just make sure they still fit WELL.
Sloppy is never a good look, even if you are just doing video conferences from your home office.
Besides jeans, look for pieces like a quality pair of joggers or black leggings. These can be paired with a wide variety of tops and completer pieces, like cardigans or vests.
If you live in a climate with warmer weather invest in a good pair of shorts in a medium wash denim and a pair of comfy bike shorts.
Completer Pieces & Accessories
After your top and bottom are chosen, keep the rest of your outfit simple and easy.
The casual look of a loose cardigan layered over a graphic tee is still chic as long as your pieces fit and don’t look sloppy!
You can also use an oversize button-down flannel shirt layered over a tee as a way to add flair to your outfit.
Athleisure Pieces
Don’t forget that a popular fashion trend is athleisure. This includes things like lounge wear and workout clothes.
If that type of casual attire is more your jam we have a whole capsule just for you in our shop. Talk about the ultimate outfits in comfy clothes!
